Questions Most New Denture Wearers Ask Us

Posted on 4/10/2020 by Front Desk
Questions Most New Denture Wearers Ask Us Getting dentures for the first time can seem like a very scary task. There is a lot of information surrounding denture care and maintenance. Luckily, we'll always be here to help with any question you may have. Our goal is to make your transition to dentures as smooth and seamless as possible. This is why we'll be addressing some of the more common questions we receive from new denture wearers below.

Common Questions We Hear

The first question we receive the most is, “Do I need to clean my dentures every day?” Yes, you will need to clean your dentures every day to avoid gum disease. Denture care does come with quite a bit of work, but it's not too much different than caring for teeth. We recommend cleaning your dentures separately from your gums if possible. Use a hard-bristled brush for your denture with a small amount of toothpaste making sure to get into every nook and cranny. Afterwards, you can place your dentures in a denture solution overnight. You will also need to clean your gums. You can clean your gums with a small amount of toothpaste and scrub them with a very soft bristled toothbrush. This will make sure your gums are clean and free from bacteria. The second question we receive the most is, “Will my dentures fall out of my mouth?” It depends on what kind of dentures you have, however, if your dentures are taken care of properly, they shouldn't fall out of your mouth. Most dentures need some kind of denture adhesive to stay attached to your gums, and investing in a good quality one will make sure they do not fall out. If you're interested in learning more about dentures, don't be afraid to give us a call. We'll be happy to help you with anything you need.
