Three Reasons You Need to Upgrade Your Dentures in the Next Year

Three Reasons You Need to Upgrade Your Dentures in the Next YearAlthough you may no longer have your natural teeth, you do still have options. Dentures are one of them, but you can also upgrade from there to dental implants. There are some very important reasons why you should consider doing so.

Dental Implants Offer You More Support

When you have dentures, they rely on a combination of suction and the use of adhesives in order to stay correctly positioned in your mouth. Unfortunately, many people soon discover that despite their best attempts, their dentures will still move around in their mouth.

They may even pop completely out of their mouth, making them feel really insecure and uncomfortable while wearing them. However, when you have dental implants none of this will happen. Instead, they're securely “implanted” within your mouth. This will allow you to comfortably and confidently speak, smile, and eat.

Dental Implants Make Your Jawbone Healthier

When there aren't any tooth roots in your jaw it'll start to shrink and become distorted – a process that's known as “bone resorption.” This commonly happens to people who wear dentures. However, when you opt for dental implants instead, they'll act like replacement roots and prevent your jawbone from deteriorating.

When your jawbone is properly stimulated it won't shrink over time. This is great news because it means that your facial features won't change, and you won't develop other oral health issues.

Dental Implants are Easier to Maintain Than Dentures

Many people complain about how their loose-fitting dentures will flop around in their mouth, making it difficult for them to eat or speak and simply making them feel uncomfortable and self-conscious overall. This is the last thing you want to have happen to you and you don't have to when you have dental implants. Their posts will replace your teeth's roots just like your natural teeth. This also means that you can brush and floss as you always have.

Now that you understand why you should upgrade your dentures, give us a call and schedule an appointment so we can help you do so.
