Knowing When Your Dentures Need to be Realigned

Getting a set of dentures is, in many ways, a tremendous step forward in your quality of life. If you were in the position to get new dentures, chances are that you were missing some-or perhaps even all-of your teeth.

Getting dentures gave you the ability to once again enjoy the foods that you love, speak without struggling, and do all the activities that you once enjoyed.

However, dentures are just like anything else-that is to say, over time they begin to wear down and may need some adjustment on occasion. One such time is when they begin to come down unevenly and may need to be realigned.

If you have had dentures for a lengthy period of time and are beginning to experience struggles with getting them to come down together correctly, it may be time to consider getting them realigned. Just like your normal teeth, dentures are designed to fit together like a key and a lock when you bite down.

If you noticed that you are beginning to bite unevenly, or if perhaps you notice that the dentures in a specific area are always coming together before everything else, this could be a signed that you need to have them realigned.

The Realignment Process

Fortunately, having your dentures realigned is a relatively simple affair. Simply come in to see us, and tell us that you think they may need to be realigned. We will be happy to take a closer look and determine exactly what the issue with your dentures is.

If it does turn out that you need to have your dentures realigned, we will give you further instructions at that point. Suffice to say, it is a fairly simple process, and you will not need to be without your dentures for a significant period of time.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call us at (925) 266-3550 today.
