Why Wisdom Teeth Don't Need Replacing but Other Teeth Do

Wisdom Teeth the Dental Implant Center at Walnut Creek CA 94596
It is very rare for someone to have all 32 of their possible teeth come in. Usually the third molar or wisdom tooth, needs more room at the back of the jaw to make its way out. As it turns out, wisdom teeth kind of have a mind of their own and in most cases, we don't even need them. They might decide to show up and they might not. If they don't cause discomfort, it is fine to leave them alone.

Reasons Why You Don't Need To Replace Wisdom Teeth and Why Other Teeth You Do

Wisdom teeth really have no benefit unless they come in perfect. It is commonly recommended to extract wisdom teeth for a couple reasons. They are harder to get to while brushing or flossing.

This could lead to bacteria buildup and cause other future problems. Wisdom teeth can push against the teeth in front of them, causing them to slowly move.

Your dentist may not feel comfortable doing an implant. It is a much more difficult procedure to do with the limited space. Also keep in mind this runs a higher risk of infection if implant area is not cleaned properly. Most likely if you have one wisdom tooth pulled your dentist will remove them all, if they are present.

There are many reasons people should get other teeth replaced. Our teeth hold each other up so to speak. They keep each other in line and support each other. When there is a missing tooth or missing teeth, the surrounding teeth lose their support system and they may start heading toward the missing area.

This is where the problems start happening. We all know it's a lot easier to eat with our teeth. Our teeth play a huge role in one's self esteem. Without our teeth, it can be harder to talk and harder to smile. Leaving it go long enough can change your appearance and can cause you discomfort.

Talk to your dentist about what they recommend to maintain good oral hygiene. They will know what's best to make sure we keep our teeth as long as we can. If your wisdom teeth don't come in you re not alone. Let's make sure we take care of the teeth we do need.
