What Veneers Can Do
We are able to place dental veneers on the front eight teeth that are most visible – four on top, four on bottom. These are some of the ways veneers can give you a new look:
• We can give your front teeth the appearance of being straighter.
• We can fill in gaps between your front teeth.
• We can give your teeth the appearance of being even.
• We can help teeth look longer, or shorter, for patients who have unusually long or short front teeth.
• We can cover teeth that have been chipped or fractured.
• We can cover teeth that have been permanently stained due to fluorosis.
• We can cover teeth that have a dirty or dingy appearance from years of coffee drinking or smoking.
How We Place Veneers
Customized porcelain veneers can be created for you in just two appointments. Dr. Keith or Dr. Gibbs will begin with discussing and evaluating your needs. They will then be able to make recommendations, including the placement of dental veneers. We will take a mold or impression which will then be sent to a dental lab.
Once we have received your veneers, we will meet to properly fit your veneers. Your placement will begin with reducing the front surface of your tooth to better fit your veneer. A portion of your front tooth will need to be removed, as may some of the sides or the crown. We will also need to etch, most likely using an acid wash, to create a roughened surface to allow for better adhesion. Your veneer is then cemented into place. The hold will be strong and durable, lasting most patients, if properly cared for, at least two years, if not longer. We will check the status of your veneers at each checkup.
